I grew up here...lived in Carmel Valley, graduated from Carmel High School, went to summer school in Pacific Grove (Marine Biology field trips at 5am), and have dear friends in that area still. From the rich farmlands of the Salinas Valley to Big Sur to the smokestacks of Moss Landing, the area has a powerful hold on my heart. Of course, its one of the most beautiful places on this earth. I have been fortunate. Click on each image for a larger view. If you are interested in further information about any of these paintings, contact Joyous Lake Gallery by email or call 928-367-1319. |
Carmel River I During a recent reunion (I'm not telling you how many years), a dear friend talked about having "sacred places." This is certainly a sacred place for me, the Carmel River, next to where I grew up. Its also a very different way of working, a more contemporary look at things, and in acrylic instead of oil. 22" x 30" . |

Carmel Valley Nursery A visit to my ancestral home in Carmel Valley meant we had to stop by the old Begonia Gardens, now owned by someone else and no longer specializing in begonias, but lush nonetheless. I love the subject. 24" x 36 " gallery wrap . |

The caves at Whaler's Cove have intrigued me since I was a little girl, but I don't know anyone who has explored them. You can see two small ones on the left side of the painting, and a place on the inlet where the waves are working at another. Plein air. 9" x 12" |

Point Lobos, Fog Went to my reunion in Carmel Valley - and couldn't resist staying a few extra days to paint! Point Lobos, in the fog or in the sunshine, is one of my favorite spots. This is a classic view from Carmel River Beach. SOLD |

Whaler's Cove at Point Lobos is one of my favorite places on this earth. I love the broad sweep of the cove - its not as small as one would expect on this rocky coast! Those rocks - looking for all the world like two powder puff pidgeons - are a distinctive feature. SOLD |
